Do I have to take a course to become a California notary?
Yes. Step one is a 6-hour course from a Secretary of State-approved provider. Ours meets that requirement, and your Proof of Completion goes with you to the state exam.
How long is my Proof of Completion valid?
24 months from the date it's issued, so there's no rush between finishing the class and taking the exam.
How much is the state exam?
The state exam is $40 for new applicants and reappointments, and $20 for applicants who have previously taken and failed. It is paid separately to the Secretary of State.
What score do I need to pass?
